What does the word ‘katallagē’ mean in Greek? It means to transform a relationship from bad to good.

The Hebrew word for reconciliation is ‘kippur’ and is pronounced ‘kip-poor’ from Strongs H372 meaning atonement.

For things or people to reconcile they had to be removed from one another. This also means that the items were once one before they were separated. It’s important to know what caused the separation and why it’s important for reconciliation or atonement to take place.

God and man used to be in unity. Man and his Maker or Creator were removed from one another and it is essential that they reconcile. The meaning of reconciliation in this context is therefore in short: the reunion with God. This reconciliation is possible when both parties fulfil the condition of the reconciliation.

The Creator gives these conditions.

In short: this union is possible when the sinner has confessed his sins, transgressions, and injustices. These injustices and transgressions are then forgiven and cleansed by the perfect sacrifice: the Blood of Jesus / Yashua. And also, when man obeys God again and fulfils the conditions of the relationship.

As it is written in Genesis 1: “In the beginning Elohim (God) created the heavens and the earth. And the earth came to be formless and empty, and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of Elohim was moving on the face of the waters. And Elohim said, “Let light come to be,” and light came to be. And Elohim saw the light, that it was good. And Elohim separated the light from the darkness. And Elohim called the light ‘day’ and the darkness He called ‘night.’ And there came to be evening and there came to be morning, one day.”

“And it was evening and it was morning, the first day.” In other words, the day begins in the evening and not at midnight or when the sun rises. As we study the Bible and God’s words we will see that much of what is taught to man today is not according to God’s instructions that He gave to His creation.

There is something, or someone, who, from creation to this day, has been trying without ceasing to influence man, the crown of God’s creation, so that he moves further and further away from God. And he is falsely convinced that he is doing very well for himself on his own and that he does not need a Supreme Being to guide and lead him. “Man does not need God” is the key to this false whisper.

“And Elohim said, “Let an expanse come to be in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.” And Elohim made the expanse and separated the waters which were under the expanse from the waters which were above the expanse. And it came to be so. And Elohim called the expanse ‘heavens.’ And there came to be evening and there came to be morning, the second day.”

So there is also water above us, one of the reasons why the sky is blue.

“And Elohim said, “Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear.” And it came to be so. And Elohim called the dry land ‘earth,’ and the collection of the waters He called ‘seas.’ And Elohim saw that it was good.”

“And Elohim said, “Let the earth bring forth grass, the plant that yields seed, and the fruit tree that yields fruit according to its kind, whose seed is in itself, on the earth.” And it came to be so. And the earth brought forth grass, the plant that yields seed according to its kind, and the tree that yields fruit, whose seed is in itself according to its kind. And Elohim saw that it was good. And there came to be evening and there came to be morning, the third day.”

“And Elohim said, “Let lights come to be in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be for signs and appointed times, and for days and years, and let them be for lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth.” And it came to be so. And Elohim made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night, and the stars. And Elohim set them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth, and to rule over the day and over the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And Elohim saw that it was good. And there came to be evening and there came to be morning, the fourth day.”

“And Elohim said, “Let the waters teem with shoals of living beings, and let birds fly above the earth on the face of the expanse of the heavens.” And Elohim created great sea creatures and every living being that moves, with which the waters teemed, according to their kind, and every winged bird according to its kind. And Elohim saw that it was good. And Elohim blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful and increase, and fill the waters in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth.” And there came to be evening and there came to be morning, the fifth day.”

“And Elohim said, “Let the earth bring forth the living being according to its kind: livestock and creeping creatures and beasts of the earth, according to its kind.” And it came to be so. And Elohim made the beast of the earth according to its kind, livestock according to its kind, and all that creep on the earth according to its kind. And Elohim saw that it was good. And Elohim said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the heavens, and over the livestock, and over all the earth and over all the creeping creatures that creep on the ground.” And Elohim created the man in His image, in the image of Elohim He created him – male and female He created them.”

“And Elohim blessed them, and Elohim said to them, “Be fruitful and increase, and fill the earth and subdue it, and rule over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the heavens, and over all creeping creatures on the earth.” And Elohim said, “See, I have given you every plant that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed, to you it is for food. And to every beast of the earth, and to every bird of the heavens, and to every creeping creature on the earth, in which there is a living being, every green plant is for food.” And it came to be so. And Elohim saw all that He had made, and see, it was very good. And there came to be evening and there came to be morning, the sixth day.”

Man was created in God’s image and likeness. Man was created to praise God and to worship God. The human being is there for God’s pleasure. Man had to rule over God’s creation, this is a command that God gave to man. God’s blessing rested on man.

Man also had free access to God because the man was created in God’s image and God’s likeness. What does this mean?

This means that man could do everything that God did because God was in man and man was in God. They were one – one in image and one in likeness. The fullness of God flowed through man. They were reconciled to one another – God shared everything with man.

However, sin came to change this image and likeness of man – man’s image and likeness became distorted and sinful man is no longer in God’s image and likeness. This is because God cannot associate Himself with sin. God does not mix with sin, and because of sin God had to distance Himself from man.

God may have killed the first animal to offer it as a sin offering for Adam and Eve’s sins. However, the blood of the animals only covers the sin and does not wash it clean. It does not remove the sin, it just covers it. God still wanted a direct relationship with man, therefore God created prayer. However, because of the sin in man and his sinful nature, the fullness of God could no longer be in man.

This is why Jesus Christ / Yashua Mashiach the only begotten son of God had to become man and gave Himself as a sin offering. The blood of Jesus / Yashua not only covers sin, it washes and cleanses man from all sin. Jesus / Yashua therefore came to break down the wall of sin that was between us and the Father, to restore the relationship. Now man can be reconciled with God again, as God initially ordered.

In this series, this important will of God is presented to you, the reader. Constant references are made to passages in the Bible. The Word of God is the Truth. Scripture explains Scripture and Scripture confirms Scripture. It is important to test everything that man shares about the Word with the Word of God itself. However, not everything in the Bible is God’s Words – many parts are the opinion of the authors – yet I believe that it is inspired by the Holy Spirit.

My prayer is that the Holy Spirit / Set Apart Spirit of our Almighty Father and also the Father of our Master Jesus / Yashua will reveal the mysteries of the Word and specifically of the reconciliation with God.

Please pray the following prayer if you feel so led:

Almighty Father, I pray in the Name of Your Son, Jesus / Yashua, that the Holy Spirit / The Spirit of Truth will break open for me the mysteries in Your Word so that I can understand it better and can use it for the expansion of Your kingdom works. So that You the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob will be glorified by it. I thank You for that in the name of Your son Jesus Christ / Yashua Mashiach.
Amen.
